The expert on biological risks assessment is visiting IVM

January 23-27, 2017 Debra Sharp – the expert in the field of biorisk assessment is visiting IVM. The purpose of the visit is to assess the implementation and to summarize the quality of work performed in the project “Measures to improve biosecurity in IVM, Ukraine” under CRDF Global supervision and financial support of the U.S. Department of State in 2015-2016.According to the project IVM had installed the video monitoring system, electronic access control system, the fire alarm system. Upgrading of two laboratories was performed including an acquirement of modern laboratory equipment.
The expert assesses standard operating procedures which were developed and implemented for the physical security of the Institute and laboratories, as well as instructions for safe work with pathogenic microorganisms.
For the rest of the week trainings of personnel will be developed.
By the end of the week the development of incidents and emergency training schemes for staff is planned.
