A scientific and practical online seminar entitled “Integration of Modern Next-Generation Sequencing Methods to Enhance Research Capacity and Grant Competitiveness in Agriculture” was held at the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine.
The purpose of the event was to familiarize researchers and professionals with the capabilities of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies for applications in veterinary medicine, agroecology, crop production, animal husbandry, and biotechnology. The webinar brought together participants from various research and educational institutions.
The participants were presented with:
- modern approaches to DNA sample preparation and bioinformatic data analysis;
- examples of the application of the Oxford Nanopore MinION and Ion Torrent S5 platforms;
- practical aspects of metagenomic sequencing for the analysis of soil, animal, and plant microbiomes;
- opportunities for the implementation of NGS technologies in scientific and applied research.
