Dear Colleagues,
We invite you to participate in the 7th Annual International Scientific and Practical Conference
“Modern Epidemic Challenges within the One Health Concept”

Another step forward for the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of NAAS: the Veterinary Medicine educational programme of the third (educational and scientific) level, implemented by our institution, has been officially accredited by the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance.
This represents an exceptionally important milestone in the development of our Institute’s scientific and educational activities and confirms the high standards of specialist training at the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) level of higher education. It also recognizes that our educational and scientific programme meets contemporary requirements in veterinary education.
This achievement is the result of genuine teamwork. We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the accreditation process: the administration of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine for its active support, the academic staff who continuously enhance the quality of education, and the doctoral students whose achievements reflect the high effectiveness of the accredited educational and scientific programme.
Together, we are strengthening veterinary education, making it more modern and fully capable of addressing today’s challenges with confidence and professionalism.

A scientific and practical online seminar entitled “Integration of Modern Next-Generation Sequencing Methods to Enhance Research Capacity and Grant Competitiveness in Agriculture” was held at the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine.

The purpose of the event was to familiarize researchers and professionals with the capabilities of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies for applications in veterinary medicine, agroecology, crop production, animal husbandry, and biotechnology. The webinar brought together participants from various research and educational institutions.
The participants were presented with:
On July 29, 2025, the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine held a General Meeting of the staff in a hybrid format.
During the meeting, current institutional matters were discussed, including the need to initiate a competitive selection procedure to fill the vacant position of Director of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of NAAS.

In 2020, the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of the NAAS (IVM NAAS) became a winner of the competition “Science for the safety of human and society” funding by the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU) with the project “Study of possible role of animals to be a host of SARS-CoV-2”, registration number 2020.01/0121.
The project goal was to investigate the possibility of pets (cats, dogs) and productive animals (cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits) to be a reservoir/source of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Within the project’s framework we have purchased a modern system “Ion Torrent S5”, Thermo Fisher Scientific (USA) for SARS-CoV-2 virus whole genome sequencing to determine the characteristics of target genes and analyze the genetic variability of this pathogen.
A feature of the device is the improved capacity – from 5 to 100 million read operations per initialization (up to 60 samples simultaneously). It also allows to conduct simultaneous research of bacterial and viral genomes. The main advantages of this technology are low cost and fast sequencing processing – 2.5-4 hours. Institute staff is trained to work with this equipment.
The device can be used for conducting researches to identify mutations of viral and bacterial pathogens, so for private requests to identify cancer markers and specific genetic diseases of mammals and humans.

On November 19, 2021, the director of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of NAAS, Professor Serhiy NYCHYK, met with the head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (SSUFSCP) Vladyslava MAGALETSKA to sign a Memorandum of Collaboration in the field of food safety and animal health risk assessment.
The Deputy Head of the SSUFSCP, Head and Chief Specialist of the Risk Assessment Department, Rectors and representatives of specialized scientific institutions, as well as the head and experts of the EU project “Improvement of legislation, control and awareness in animal health and welfare in Ukraine” are also attended the meeting.
The goal of Collaboration is raising awareness and common interests in the development of a scientifically sound basis for decision making in the field of veterinary medicine, food and feed safety, and the implementation of appropriate sanitary measures.
On February 27, 2020 the director of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of the NAAS Professor Nychyk S.A. along with Academician-Secretary of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the NAAS Professor Mandygra M.S. visited Lesya Ukrainka Eastern European National University.
On November 5, 2019, a delegation of the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, headed by Wu Jinghua, the Vice-President of the Academy, visited the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of the NAAS. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the scope of the IVM NAAS activity, search for common interests and goals, develop models of cooperation, including potential scientific researches.
The heads of IVM laboratories took part in the meeting for the networking opportunity and proposal sharing. Professor Nychyk Serhiy and Dr. of Vet. Sci. Ayshpur Olena presented talks on the results of work on the most relevant for Ukraine topics that were met with great interest of the Chinese delegation.
The meeting ended with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on scientific cooperation between the institutions.
IVM NAAS delegates led by prof. Nychyk Serhiy, director, and PhD Sachuk Roman director of the Research Station of Epizootiology (Rivne) attended International conference “45 years of high education of veterinary medicine in the Republic of Moldova”. Читати далі…
