 History

The Center was built under the “Biological Threat Reduction Program” and US Agreement on cooperation in preventing the proliferation of technology, pathogens and expertise that could be used in the development of biological weapons. In October 2010 the State Committee of Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine, National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine and the Department of Threat Reduction in Kyiv, and the United States Embassy in Ukraine signed a memorandum on technical assistance for the “Reduction of biological threat in Ukraine” project.

The Center is a modern laboratory of biosafety level 2+ that started its activity in 2013. It functioning under the Laws of Ukraine, current national and international standards, legal acts and other documents that ensure the quality of the results. It was accredited in accordance with the requirements of ISO / IEC 17025: 2005 by Slovak National Accreditation Service (SNAS). Its field of responsibilities include routine diagnostics, test kits development, participation in the international laboratory professional tests, conducting trainings, seminars and lectures for the professionals of different fields of science, and outreach activity. This center is equipped with all the necessary laboratory equipment and technology. The conference hall is equipped with presentation equipment.

Particular importance is attached to professional development, each year training of laboratory staff improving their skills during internships at leading research institutions of veterinary medicine in Europe and Ukrainian institutions as well, participate and organize international and national scientific conferences and seminars.
