The Director of the TRS – Natalia Boltik, PhD in Agricultural Sciences
The TRS of the IVM of the NAAS includes the laboratory of animal husbandry, veterinary obstetrics and hygiene.
The main directions and activities of the station:
- Determination of total microbial contamination of milk;
- Somatic cell count in bulk milk and from individual cows;
- Determination of milking equipment cleaning procedure and sanitation efficiency (washing and disinfection);
- Determination of the efficiency of pre-milking and post-milking teat disinfection;
- Determination of the efficiency of the farm anti-mastitis program;
- Identification of pathogens causing mastitis;
- Determination of sensitivity of mastitis-causing pathogens to antimicrobials;
- Selection of anti-mastitis preparations and development of mastitis treatment protocol;
- Advising on extra-grade milk obtaining;
- Determination of the milking equipment microflora resistance to detergents and disinfectants;
- Advising on the choice of detergents and disinfectants for the sanitation of milking equipment considering the functioning of the milking plant and the water hardness;
- Advising on the prevention and treatment of obstetric and gynecological pathology in cows.
