Tarasov O. graduated with honors from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of National Agrarian University in 1996. He defended his thesis by the specialty 16.00.03 – veterinary microbiology, epizootology, infectious diseases and immunology. Awarded the title of senior researcher in 2010.
Brief history
The laboratory of anthrax is one of the new created structural divisions of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of NAAS, which was established in early 2012 on the basis of the laboratory of bacterial diseases. The last one laboratory was established in the first year of the Ukrainian Scientific-Research Veterinary Institute (1977). The head was an outstanding scientist in the field of veterinary medicine, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor, Academician of the NAAS of Ukraine Zaviriukha A.I.
His significant contribution to the study of anthrax in Ukraine is:
- “Catalogue of anthrax hot spots on the territory of the Ukrainian Republic in the period 1920-1978” Edited N.Y. Chabliy;
- “Catalogue of anthrax burial grounds for the period 1920-1978 ” Edited N.Y. Chabliy;
- Abacillar vaccine “Antrakol” for the treatment and prevention of anthrax farm animals;
- Live vaccine against anthrax from strain K-79Z;
- Anthrax antigen for reaction precipitation (Ascoli).
The main scientific directions:
- study the spread of anthrax in Ukraine, investigation the state of anthrax burial grounds in different regions;
- selection of the B. anthracis and creating new vaccine strains;
- improvement of existing control and diagnosis means of anthrax;
- development of the concept model of anthrax outbreaks risk prediction in Ukraine;
- the study of theoretical and practical aspects of infectious disease of pigs;
- the creation of specific preventive means against the most common bacterial infections of pigs.
The main scientific results in 2010-2015 years
As a result of research works it have been developed for the practice of veterinary medicine few immunobiological and chemical preparations:
- emulsion vaccine against swine erysipelas, inactivated.
- live dry vaccine against swine erysipelas. Technical conditions. DSTU 6079: 2009;
- formolvaccine polyvalent aluminum hydroxide against ehsherihioza (colibacillosis) pigs from local strains of E. coli;
- A set of sera for serological identification of strains of pasteurellosis;
- vaccine against pasteurellosis, salmonellosis and colibacillosis pigs “Pasako”;
- serum agglutination for the serologic identification of strains of E.coli serogroup B 157.
- Biological products: DSTU 6079: 2009 “live dry vaccine against swine erysipelas,” “the emulsion vaccine against swine erysipelas inactivate» (№ 1933-04-0241-06 of 4 July 2006)
- complex antibiotic drugs “Floksil- C” (registration certificate number 00459-01-08 AV / 1 of 20.07.2009 years), “Tilomitsin-B” (registration certificate number AB-00460-01-08 / 1 from 20.07. 2009), “Bioviton” (registration certificate № 00461-01-08 / 1 from 20.07.2009 years), a drug for disinfection in the presence of animals “Aerodez” (patent pending).

University of Florida, SEER lab – collaboration on the issues of B.anthracis ecological niche modeling, pathogen spreading and the development of strategies to control and eradication of anthrax.
